It all started during Thanksgiving break of 2019, the two met out casually at a bar in Encinitas surrounded by many of their mutual friends from high school. It was fate because not much came out of that first meeting as Dane had not built up the courage yet to ask Gracie out.
Fast forward a few weeks later to Christmas, they serendipitously saw each other again at that same bar. At this point, Dane had stepped up his game and the two talked and danced the night away.
Despite everything, Gracie was the still one who made the first move after that night. She replied to Dane's Instagram story featuring a burrito (classic Dane) and asked when they were having their first burrito date.
The beginning of their relationship included many trips back and forth between San Francisco and Phoenix before COVID struck.
In 2020, the two hunkered down in San Diego with their families, which included a lot of quality time together as a couple and endless burrito dates, mostly at Roberto's Del Mar.
In March of 2021, Dane was fortunate enough to match at his first choice of radiology programs, UC San Diego. Shortly after graduation, the two decided to move together to San Diego, beginning the next chapter of their lives surrounded by close friends and family.
Nearly 2 years after living in San Diego, a precious puppy named Kingsley found their way into their lives. Dane and Gracie could not be more obsessed with Kingsley if they tried. Hence the website URL.
Two weeks after they adopted Kingsley, Dane popped the question on Torrey Pines State Beach. One could say Gracie was surprised, though her keen instincts told her something was up. On the eve of the proposal, which was on a Friday, Gracie asked, "Are you proposing this weekend?" To which Dane, for the first and only time ever in their relationship gaslighted, "Definitely not."
